ROUTE GUIDE
This trail is technically called the Wesley Heights Trail. It is marked by these yellow lines.
Following these yellow marks WILL successfully take you through the entire 0.8-mile trail.
Sometimes it is unclear what the yellow marks are instructing you to do, but make sure you are seeing these yellow marks. If you run for a bit and start to notice an absence of yellow marks, you’ve done something wrong. Even if you follow my guide to the letter, if you stop seeing yellow marks for a while, you messed up.
Now onto the guide. Since this is a connection, you can start on either the Glover end or the BK end. I chose to start at the BK end. Shortly after going through Battery Kemble Park, look for this sign:
This sign will be accompanied by a bridge to the left. Take the bridge and divert from the BK trail to get on the connection.
You will pop out onto 49th St. You should see the trail opening for the 2nd leg directly ahead.
This part is simple. Then, you will get to Foxhall Rd. The trial entrance to the 3rd leg is kind of hidden but directly ahead. This road is very busy and there are no crosswalks nearby, so you may have to be patient.
At this first intersection, go left. As you can see, the yellow markings really do not help you at all with this decision.
You will then exit onto 44th St. Across the street to your right, you will see the trail entrance to the 4th leg of this trail
At this junction, go left.
You should then immediately cross this stream.
Then make a left at this intersection. Note that this is a panorama so is therefore slightly warped. It’s more like merging left vs making a sharp right turn.
If you’re on the right track, you’ll cross this bridge:
Then you’ll merge onto Glover Archbold Trail here, shortly into the 3rd leg of Glover.
This is the sign that marks the Glover/BK Connection trail on Glover:
Notes
At 0.8 miles long, this isn’t really a trail at all. It doesn’t help that it’s pretty hilly, full of loose rocks to twist your ankles, and prone to extreme muddiness when it rains. It’s one redeeming factor is that it allows you to transfer between Glover Archbold and Battery Kemble.
Both Glover and BK run south from their starting points, more or less parallel to one another. Since the majority of these trails is run in deep woods, it can be hard to transfer between the two if you change your mind or want to change trails halfway through your run.
This connection allows you to do just that, pretty efficiently. While not a great trail to run on, it’s an excellent utility.
